Welcome to this week’s blog. Today I am sharing with you what it means to overcome this world. But first, you may be asking why would we need to overcome this world? We believe, my husband and I, that we are nearing end times. Our world is under severe enemy control more and more every year. As a result, people are falling away from their faith and hope in God’s hand in this world. More and more people do not believe that Jeshua (Jesus Christ) is our salvation or deliverance from this world.
We live in a world that is very secular, broken, evil, materialistic, and with increasing numbers of false-doctrines and false gods. This generation is at its all-time high in crumpling churches, and fallen believers who once believed that there is only one God of the universe. A God who created the heavens and the earth, and all that live in the land, the seas and the skies. There are false doctrines being written, preached and practiced more in this generation than dating back to the Israelites and Gentiles two thousand years ago. The truth is being obscured more and more every year.
Today many refute the truth, biblical truth. They choose to bury their heads in the sand of lies. They’ve been denying the truth their entire lives, why would they change now? They’ve chosen to follow dark practices. They refuse to comprehend that the sinful flesh is not God’s will for our lives, but the will and temptations of Satan. They refuse to face the truth that man is in the middle of a spiritual warfare between God and Satan. Many have inherited a comfortable lie; therefore, they see no logical reason to change now. This world has become Satan’s playground. Just look around you. And whoever lives in darkness and continues their sinful ways cannot comprehend the light. Their ways are always fighting against those who live in the light.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. – John 1:5 (NKJ).
The sinful flesh incessantly fights against the light, but God promises to those who follow Him, the sinful flesh will never prevail. God promises if we follow Him, He will always be with us, and He will deliver us from this evil world.
They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you, says the Lord, to deliver you. – Jeremiah 1:19 (NKJ).
The truth is, in order to overcome this world, we must follow God and His will for our lives. Not our will for our lives, but His. Genesis tells us that God created all that is in this world. He is the master of the universe. He is greater than he (man) who is in this world.
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. - 1 John 4:4 (NKJ).
God is greater than man alone. Scripture, as mystical and abstract as it is, repeatedly tells us throughout the Bible that our faith is the victory over this world. Good will always overcome evil.
Biblical truth hasn’t been around for centuries just to tickle our ears. God’s plan was to always provide us direction and guidance through the scriptures. He did write the beginning (Genesis), and He did write the end of the story (Revelation).
But in hopes to increase your knowledge, here are three very clear and concise instructions or commands God has asked of each of us in order to “overcome” this world. If followed until the end, to him (believers) will God give power over the nations:
1. Be Strong in your Faith, Love the Lord with all of Your Heart and Soul
2. Keep all of God’s Ten Commandments
3. Walk in Complete Obedience to God, and worship no other gods
Our faith in our Father’s promises is our victory over this world. We are born of God; therefore, our faith is our reward in overcoming this world. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. - 1 John 5:4 (NKJ).
God’s promises are His children’s rewards if we press on, fight the good fight to the very end, keep His good works until the end; hence, overcoming this world. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Romans 12:21 (NKJ).
In Luke, Jeshua once again promises His children; Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. - Luke 10:19 (NKJ).
In the book of John, he writes what the Lord had spoken to him; These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. - John 16:33 (NKJ).
Following are several biblical scriptures that confirm God’s promises to His children. Many of the following scripture are from the last book of the bible, Revelation. A book that is very mystical, and symbolic with God’s instructions and commands for us today, and leading us into end times. The Book of Revelation is a warning, and an invitation to all Christians who have fallen away or grown dispirited in their faith. Revelation is a message of reassurance to those who are faithfully enduring the daily trials and tribulations of this world.
The Book of Revelation reveals to us the full identity of Christ, and gives warning and hope to believers. The Book of Revelation reassures us that in the end, good will be victorious over evil. This is exactly God’s definition of overcoming this world.
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God. - Revelation 2:7 (NKJ).
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it. - Revelation 2:17 (NKJ).
And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations - Revelation 2:26 (NKJ).
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. - Revelation 3:5 (NKJ).
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. - Revelation 2:11 (NKJ).
He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. - Revelation 3:12 (NKJ).
To sum up, our rewards are not here on earth, but in Heaven. Our rewards in Heaven are not earned by our works here on earth. God doesn’t care about how much money you have in your Swiss bank account, nor the Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire you drive, nor the 120-room mansion you live in. God doesn’t care if you’re the CEO of the most affluent company in the world. God doesn’t care if you attended Harvard or Yale or how many doctorates you have hanging on your prideful wall of fame at home.
If you are “of this world” and you believe your earthly status has earned you a royal seat to the right of God’s throne, you are very sadly mistaken. And therefore, the truth is, you have been miserably deceived and betrayed your entire life.
Remember, God sees all and knows all. Not one of us can hide from our Creator. He sees our good works, the works He has instructed and commanded His children to fulfill during our short time here, for His glory. Do you help the homeless, the needy or the hurting? Do you tithe? Do you help feed the hungry, love your neighbor, speak no ill will of others, love everyone unconditionally; even your enemies?
Are you fruitful in all you do? Are you slow to anger and quick to forgive? Do you make every effort, every day of your life, to be more like the image of our Savior, Jeshua? These are the ways you can overcome this world and gain your greater rewards in Heaven.
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. - Revelation 3:21 (NKJ).
