Graceful Perseverance: Who Do You Say I am - "I AM WHO I AM" . . . - 07/31/22

Welcome to this week’s blog. I felt compelled this week to share a message of understanding and knowledge of who is "I AM WHO I AM" - Who do you say God is?

Then Moses said to God, "Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is His name?' what shall I say to them?" And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' " - Exodus 3:13-14 (NKJ).

We must always go to the Bible first and see what the Bible says - Who is God? According to scripture, God is Spirit, Someone, Everywhere, Power, Holy, Righteous, Love, Good and Wise.

God is Spirit!

Not one of us can see God; not His hands, His eyes, nor His mouth because God is Spirit. God's spirit cannot be measured, touched or felt by any human being. God is a personal spirit, not a something, but He is a someone. We read in Proverbs 21:1-2 (NKJ) -The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. The human race cannot fathom a physical God, but the Bible does provide us an understanding of God as a spirit.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore, from now on you shall have wars. - 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NKJ).

We read in Isaiah 40:5 (NKJ) - The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. In this scripture the proof of God's mouth is through His spoken words. We know from the beginning; God's mouth spoke heaven and earth into existence. We know from Genesis, the beginning, God spoke everything into existence. Trust the Lord our God has spoken even though we haven't seen God's mouth, but we've heard God speak through scripture.

God is Someone!

Because God is "someone," God has many names - God, YHWH (Yahweh), and Jehovah; the all-powerful creator, preserver, and redeemer of the universe! When Moses asked who God is, "The Burning Bush," God replied "I AM WHO I AM." The burning bush, as a powerful symbol, represents God's miraculous energy, sacred light, illumination and the burning heart of purity, love and clarity to Moses, so he would then share with the Jews and the Christians.

In Exodus 3:1-6 (NKJ), we can better understand the burning bush as a powerful symbol, representing God's miraculous energy where God is telling Moses who He is - 1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." 5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." 6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

God is Everywhere!

A "someone" to us who has revealed Himself to us throughout scripture that He has been here for us since the beginning of time. God is never absent anywhere, any place or any time. Relative to space, God is everywhere, Heaven and Earth. Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?" says the Lord; "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" says the Lord. - Jeremiah 23:24 (NKJ). God is in every place at every time. The whole of God is here, yet there. God is everywhere within the galaxy. God is everlasting to everlasting, eternal timing. We are to bow down and adore Him just as our ancestors did. Abraham prayed to God, David prayed to God, and we too are to pray to Him. God is also unchanged which means He has no beginning, no end, no age, and no limits.

God is also knowledge! He knows everything. God never had to learn anything, ever. He sees all things as they really are all of the time. As humans, we cannot hide anything from God, as He sees everything at all times. He is understanding and infinite. God is exactly the same (infinite) to all of us, all of mankind whether we accept God into our lives or we turn away from Him. But He's still an infinite God.

What does the Bible say about God's knowledge? Psalm 147 speaks of God's knowledge.

1 Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. 2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.

3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. 4 He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. 5 Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. 6 The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. 7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; Sing praises on the harp to our God, 8 Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who prepares rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains.

9 He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens that cry. 10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy. 12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! 13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you. 14 He makes peace in your borders, And fills you with the finest wheat. 15 He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly.

16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes; 17 He casts out His hail like morsels; Who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends out His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. 19 He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel. 20 He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the Lord! - Psalm 147 (NKJ).

God is Power!

He does whatever He chooses, all the time. But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. - Psalm 115:3 (NKJ). No one can restrain His hand or restrain what you have done. Not one of us can say "God, What have You done?" God is the council of His own will. He determines which way the wind blows, the movement of the tiniest insects, every last detail is God's all inclusive plan.

And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, "What have You done?" - Daniel 4:34-35 (NKJ).

What does the Bible say according to God's Will?

Ephesians 1:4-5 - Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.

Ephesians 1:7-9 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

And Ephesians 1:11- In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will.

God is Holy, Righteous and Love!

God is Light! In God's whole, there is no darkness. God has been cut off from all creatures, because God was never of sin, only entire purity. According to Moses in the scriptures, God is glorious and wonderful. The proof of His wonder is because He knows all things. He is not wicked or selfish. His is righteous, pure and right. He cannot speak a wrong word, or act wrong in all His ways. God is not blame, but loving. The Bible doesn't say "Love is God," but it does say "God is Love." If you don't know God, you don't know what love is. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. - 1 John 4:8 (ESV).

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (ESV) - Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

God is Good!

God is good to all. Even for those who refuse God, He is still actively good to them, regardless. God forgives His enemies and loves those who call upon Him. This is proof of God's wisdom. In the Book of Daniel, Daniel speaks of God's wisdom and might, His DNA and the existence of knowledge. God even saved the rebels, the spiteful, and the wicked through the blood of the cross. This and many other proofs is what makes God incomprehensible.

God is Wise!

The Bible does tell us what God is like. If we are thirsty to understand who God is, "I AM WHO I AM," then the "what" can be answered. But the "how" God is this way, cannot be answered since we are all sinful creatures. The "how" cannot be answered due to our limited minds. For example, the "how," the 3 in 1 - Father, Son and Holy Spirit, three, yet one? What we do know from scripture? Fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and any of us has the free will to gain this understanding through the Bible. It's all there for whoever is thirsty for this knowledge. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. - Proverbs 9:10 (NKJ).

Open a Bible, and there you will find what God is like. Remember, understanding is God's invention for our limited minds. Bow a knee and admit God is God, the only creator of the smallest molecules, the tinniest insects, and the DNA for all of God's creatures that roam the earth. God created the Heavens and the Earth. He created the solar system, the entire galaxy. God created every star in the galaxy and named each one. God created day and night. God determines which way the wind is going to blow and the storms of the sea. If we need an answer to God's "how," then reflect back to the beginning of time, the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament to begin your understanding and knowledge of who is

"I AM WHO I AM!"
